1D05 - Omar Parbhoo

Omar has proudly served 1D05 since January 2023. As a parent of two children in local schools, he is committed to ensuring Mount Pleasant remains a welcoming neighborhood where families and individuals of all backgrounds can feel at home and thrive.

During his time on the ANC, Omar has focused on strengthening early childhood education, improving public safety, and ensuring the city delivers equitable services for our community. He has also supported the campaign to secure the Bancroft Elementary annex to address overcrowding and expand access to the school. Omar is committed to ensuring that community voices drive local decision-making, especially when it comes to investments that shape how we live, learn, and move through the neighborhood.

Professionally, Omar works in civic innovation, helping communities and institutions respond to challenges facing democracy in the United States. He brings this experience to the ANC with a belief that a healthy civic life starts at the local level.

You can often find Omar walking to school drop-off, at a local business on Mount Pleasant Street, or at one of our many community events. He is honored to serve our neighborhood and welcomes anyone with ideas, concerns, or questions to reach out.
